Dorris Holmes, Ypsilanti, MI
Our Sister, Dorris Holmes (50) went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Saline Community Hospital. She was born September 3, 1958 in Dade City, FL, the daughter of King and Earline (Gant) Holmes (members of Mt. Olive COGIC of Ypsilanti)
Dorris was an active member of Abundant Harvest Church of God in Christ, where she served on the Compassion Team and Praise Team. Dorris was also active with the District Women's Jail Ministry. Dorris was blessed to serve in local ministry with her two son's Larry and Eric and brother, Solomon. Larry, his wife Erin and three children are members of Abundant Harvest Church as well as his brother, K. Solomon Holmes, his wife Maria and family. Her son Eric and his wife, Alexis are now attending Buring Bush COGIC in Ypsilanti.
Dorris was a beloved co-worker of many friends at the University of MI Hospital in the Cancer Department.
A Dorris Holmes Memorial Scholarship has been established by Abundant Harvest Church to honor her memory to encourage young women to further their education. Members may apply for the scholarship (annual deadline is August 1). See scholarships.
